Who is MBTIonline Teams for?

MBTIonline Teams is ideal for use by any in-person or virtual team of 3+ people looking for a flexible yet powerful self-guided team-building experience designed to improve team effectiveness.

Please note that MBTIonline Teams is intended for team development and should not be used in the hiring of new employees or the selection of individuals to form a team. The MBTI® assessment, which forms the backbone of this product, is invaluable for team building, leadership development, conflict management and other uses, but as it’s not designed to measure aptitude or performance ability, it would be unethical to use it to make hiring or personnel decisions.

How much time does it take for a team to go through MBTIonline Teams?

MBTIonline Teams is designed to be flexible and completed at the team’s own pace. Team members first take the MBTI® assessment and validate their result through an interactive best-fit process, which takes about 45 minutes. Upon completion, they can immediately begin to explore their results as they wait for others to complete the assessment. Once everyone on the team has completed the assessment, the team portion of the experience is unlocked. At that point, the team can go through the team content individually or together in as little as a single afternoon or over a longer period depending on how much time is available. If the team prefers a live session together, a facilitator’s guide that’s included with purchase can help the team leader or designated team member facilitate the learning in a step-by-step way. Optional self-paced courses round out the learning experience for each team member.

How long will my team have access to MBTIonline Teams?

MBTIonline Teams is available as a one-time purchase. After taking the MBTI® assessment, team members receive access to the team portal and all the content from the experience, including the downloadable individual and team reports and the self-paced courses.

How does the purchase and setup process work?

The purchase and setup process for MBTIonline Teams is quick and easy. Whether you’re purchasing for your own team or on behalf of a team, you’ll first create a free customer account that you’ll use to purchase seats for MBTIonline Teams.* Seats can be used right away or later to set up one or multiple teams. When setting up a team, you’ll simply enter each member’s name and email address. Once setup is complete, an automated email will be sent to each member with instructions. Until all team members complete the assessment, the team portion of the overall experience will remain locked. Volume discounts are available for purchases of 50 seats or more.

Can I add someone to, or remove someone from, a team after members have completed the MBTIonline Teams experience? 

It will depend on which of the two options you choose to purchase MBTIonline Teams.

If you choose the “One-time purchase” option, please be aware that once a team has been set up during the MBTIonline Teams purchase process, you cannot add or remove team members afterward. You can, however, replace an existing team member with someone else if that team member has not already started the MBTIonline Teams experience.

If you choose the “Create an account to purchase” option, you will have the flexibility to make changes to a team and rerun the MBTIonline Teams experience when members join or leave the team. Additional fees may apply depending on the change; for example, a seat from your inventory will be required to add a new team member to an existing team. There is no charge to create the account, but this purchase option is currently available to US and EU-based customers only. If you're outside the US or EU, please choose the "One-time purchase" option.

Are volume discounts available?

Yes. Volume discounts of 7.5% and 15% are available for purchases of 50+ or 250+ seats, respectively. These discounts are automatically applied during checkout.

Can people skip the assessment if they already know their MBTI type?

If a team member already knows their four-letter MBTI type from a previous MBTIonline Teams experience that was purchased via the “Create an account to purchase” option, they will not need to take the assessment again to join a new team; as long as the same email address is used again, their best-fit MBTI type will be reused automatically. If they prefer to retake the assessment, they can do so by using a new email address.

Otherwise, all team members are required to complete the MBTI assessment and an interactive learning session to validate their results. Please note that until all team members complete the assessment and interactive learning session, the team portion of the overall experience will remain locked.

Does MBTIonline Teams come with a facilitator’s guide?

Yes. Included with purchase is a facilitator’s guide that the team leader or a designated team member can use to conduct an optional group learning session. The guide comes as a set of PowerPoint slides with facilitator notes that can be used to deliver a one-, two-, or even four-hour session. Designed for use by someone who is not an expert on the MBTI® assessment or personality type, the guide leverages the MBTIonline Teams content to help teams:

  • Identify key strategies to use personality differences constructively.
  • Learn about the gifts and potential pitfalls related to one’s personality type.
  • Gain insight into their team’s differences and similarities.
  • Create individual and team commitments to action.

Is MBTIonline Teams available in languages besides English?

No. MBTIonline Teams is currently available only in English.
